The Power of Dreams: Celebrating Miguel Ramos During Hispanic Heritage Month

In celebration of National Hispanic Heritage Month, Planting People Growing Justice Press is proud to release Miguel Ramos: The Power of Dreams, an inspiring children’s book about resilience, leadership, service, and the courage to keep dreaming.

Growing up in Puerto Rico, Miguel Ramos learned early that perseverance and strong values can help us overcome life’s greatest challenges. After losing his father as a teenager, Miguel began working full time to help support his family while continuing his education at night. His journey eventually brought him to Minnesota, where limited English meant starting over by cleaning floors. Yet Miguel continued moving forward.

Through determination and hard work, Miguel became a top salesperson, mentored students in Saint Paul Public Schools, worked for the Minnesota Twins, and eventually started his own consulting company to help others succeed. Throughout his journey, he remained committed to serving his community and opening doors for others.

Miguel’s story carries an important message for young people: a setback can become a setup for future success. His life demonstrates that our circumstances do not have to determine our destination. Through education, perseverance, service, and leadership, each of us has the power to make a difference.

This Hispanic Heritage Month, we celebrate Miguel Ramos as a community leader and difference maker whose journey can inspire the next generation to dream bigger, keep moving forward, and use their gifts to change the world.

Dream big. Lead with purpose. Make a difference.
