WRITING COMPETITION

Theme: Celebrating Black History (Pan-Africanism)

DEADLINE: Tuesday, January 31, 2023

Submit to: info@ppgj.org

Planting People Growing Justice Leadership Institute is committed to inspiring BIPOC youth to become literary artists who share stories that reflect their rich cultural heritage. We are starting the new year reflecting on Black history and culture.

To enter this competition, youth are asked to reflect upon the writing prompt “WE ARE ...” and finish the statement.

PPGJLI Founder, Dr. Artika Tyner, offers a few of her reflections as examples:

We are the hope of our ancestors- generations of strength, courage, and power.”

We are jazz as we create harmonies of peace and unity.”

We welcome responses from youth who are:

  • MN Residents of African American heritage

Selected winners will:

  • Receive $50

  • Be featured in a new children’s book

Please email responses to info@ppgj.org before the January 31 deadline.
