Women Leading Change
what is in your hands to make a difference?
The Women Leading Change (WLC) project focuses on empowering women leaders to embrace their unique leadership qualities, foster their leadership development, and make a difference in the world. It will meet the need of equipping women to be the change they hope to see in the world. They will gain tools to be their own advocates, advance their career opportunities, and engage in social justice advocacy.

Leadership Development Training
We are committed to supporting women in embracing their unique leadership qualities, fostering their leadership development, and empowering them to create positive change in their lives, their families, and their communities.
Our Purpose
We develop leaders from within our community through our ongoing engagement and relationship-building efforts. Our work helps to build collective power by fostering leadership development and providing key cultural learning experiences.
Our Impact
To date, our leadership training has resulted in women becoming authors, STEM educators, entrepreneurs, community leaders, reading ambassadors, and social justice advocates.

Our Training
Our training encompasses multiple topics that can be covered both virtually and in person and are usually broken down into more than one gathering/workshop. During all trainings, we use a circle approach in order to ensure all voices are heard.
The training provides tools, a platform, and a supportive network. Participants develop a renewed sense of agency, self-determination, and the power needed to advance their lives, their families, and their communities.
Ultimately each participant helps create the systemic change and racial equity that leads to a vibrant and thriving world for all.
Our Leadership Model
The leadership model of Planting People Growing Justice is rooted in the Black movement ecosystem. Our founder, Dr. Artika R. Tyner, developed this model (after a decade of research) based on the study of social change movements nationally and globally, mobilization rooted in principles of Pan-Africanism, and leadership profiles of Black leaders.
